Area children can participate in a Summer Food Service Program at several sites, with one closing this week.
The food program at Reeltown Elementary School, located at 4085 Alabama Highway 120 in Notasulga, closes Friday. According to school officials, the program serves breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. until noon today through Friday.
Eclectic Middle School, located at 170 South Ann St., will serve breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch between 11 a.m. and noon on Mondays through Friday until July 19.
Next door, at Elmore County High School, located at 155 North College Ave., the summer feeding program will offer breakfast from 7 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 10 a.m. to noon until Aug. 6.
The Eclectic Child Development Center, located at 35 Harden St., will offer breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday until Aug. 6.
Just a little south of Tallassee, Helping Hands Food Ministry at 4450 Cross Keys Rd. in Shorter will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. until noon Monday through Thursday.
The Summer Food Service Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and provides kids and teens in low-income areas free meals when school is out. It serves children and teens age 18 and younger.
