The Tallassee Community development Corporation and Cozumel restaurant have teamed up for Trivia Night competition every Thursday beginning this week.
Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. and trivia rounds will begin at 7 p.m. at the restaurant.
"There will be five rounds of five questions each," event coordinator Tristan Sgarlata said. "Teams can be up to six people. At the end of the night, the team with the most points takes half the pot."
To keep things interesting, organizers said there will be nightly and monthly trivia winners.
"The other half goes to a cumulative pot for month end," Sgarlata said. "The team with the most cumulative points per month takes the big pot and second place gets a $25 gift certificate from the restaurant."
There are only a few rules in place and cell phones will be prohibited during the trivia rounds.
"In an effort to ensure the spirit of fair play, during the question rounds there will be a bowl on the table for cell phones," Sgarlata said. "You'll be allowed access in the intermissions between rounds."
Sgarlata is hoping Trivia Night will draw a large crowd because more participants equal a larger pot to split.
"I'm hoping we have a great turnout for the first night," she said. "If we get six teams, the winner will triple their money. With six teams, you could walk out with $75 for a win."
The buy-in is $5 per round, which is $25 per night per team.
