Robert Lewis Roper, known to all as “Roper” of Odessa, Fl passed peacefully at home, May 25, 2019 at the age of 83. A Celebration of Life will be held June 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at 8911 Donna Lee Drive, Odessa, FL, 33556. He was born June 22, 1935 in Tallassee, Alabama to the late Rufus Burl Roper and Francis Marie Golden. He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother, Curtis Lee Roper and many longtime friends. He proudly served with the U.S. Marines in Korea. He retired from GTE after 32 years and was a longtime volunteer for the Seniors PGA. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Terri and Lonnie Redmon, Trisha and Joey Schmidt; granddaughters, Emily Redmon, Gracy Redmon and Hannah Schmidt; wife, Margaret Roper and longtime friend Margaret Davidson; niece Laura (Tracy) Hoeft; nephews, Steven (Grace) Roper and Mark Roper.

He was a Great Father and a Great Friend but most of all a Great Man. He will be sorely missed by many. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.
