There is still ice on some Elmore County roads Wednesday morning as county officials want everyone to still follow the impassable road statement from Tuesday night.
“We are evaluating roads currently and trying to address any problematic areas,” Elmore County chief operations officer Richie Beyer said.
The Alabama Department of Transportation is responsible for state and federal highways. There are morning reports of ice still on the roadway on Highway 14 near Fleahop Road.

City of Tallassee streets are still closed Wednesday morning.
“We hope to open them later (Wednesday),” Tallassee police chief Todd Buce said. “I’m currently riding and checking on streets. Everyone will still need to be careful when we open city streets.”
Wetumpka police chief Ed Reeves said the city only saw minor wrecks overnight but said drivers should still limit their movement.
“Everything should be open, but I would still encourage people to stay oof the road unless absolutely necessary,” Reeves said.
At 7 a.m. Boundary, Ready and Hill streets had just reopened.
ALDOT is urging everyone to stay off the roads as black ice is still a major concern.
Elmore County EMA director Keith Barnett said there were no major incidents in Elmore County overnight.
“It seems that most people heeded the warnings and stayed off the roads,” Barnett said.
