If they were not on the podium, more than likely, the Dadeville and Reeltown track team had someone close behind. Each of the two saw a ton of success at the AHSAA Class 1A-3A State meet.
For the Tigers in 3A, who are coming off their indoor state championship in February, they had their pick of the litter of standout performers. Arielle Russell took home 12 in the 200-meter final and 21st in the long jump. Dayton Lankert finished 14th in the boys shot put final with a 40-foot throw.
Anthony Coker and Braton Patterson snatched top-20 finishes in the boys javelin. Lankert and Brennon Holley came away with top-15 finishes in the discus.
Kodi Morgan Jr. took home a fourth-place finish in the long jump, with teammates Kenneth Lewis and Jaydon Waldon also finishing in the top-20.
The 4x400-meter boys team took ninth and the 4x800-meter team took home sixth in the finals. Keyshun Woodyard and Phillip Baker finished neck-and-neck in the 300-meter hurdles with a sixth and seventh finish, respectively. Woodyard added an eighth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, and Baker snatched a 14th overall finish in the 400-meter.
For the Rebels, Tae Martin and Zarell Lockhart were seemingly attached at the hip in almost every event they participated in. The duo took the top-two spots in the Class 2A 200 meters dash, Martin in first with a time of 22.52 and Lockhart in second at 22.55. Martin added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a 19-feet-10-inch jump, along with a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash. Lochart finished right behind with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter finals.
Alijah Love took home 11th in the 800-meter, Jaedan Brooks finished in fourth in the boys 110-meter hurdles and the 4x100 meter team took 11th with a time of 45.37.
The girls team also shared in the success with their 4x400-meter team taking fifth in the finals with a time of 4:34.77 and third in the 4x800 at 10:47.28. Kaysen Garner, Leah Reeves and Jose Barham also had successful outings in their individual events.
