A state championship is the only thing on the minds of the Tallassee wrestlers this weekend as they look to take their first steps toward the ultimate goal.
The undefeated Tigers are headed to the opening rounds of the AHSAA Class 1A-5A Dual Championships at Bayside Academy on Friday.
Heading into the championships, Tallassee boasts an undefeated 37-0 duals record on the season.
“We have to stay healthy, but the kids’ mindset is they’re excited and they’re ready to continue,” Tallassee coach John Mask said.
Tallassee will first face off against T.R. Miller then would face the winner of St. James versus Bayside Academy.
If the Tigers reign supreme in both duals, they’ll advance to the final two rounds of state which will take place at the Birmingham Crossplex on Jan. 24th and 25th.
Tallassee boasts a loaded roster full of wrestlers with undefeated records going into sectionals such as Land Bell in the 150 weight class, Mason Nelson in the 127 weight class and Zach Crosthwait in the 190 weight class.
