The National Weather Service issued a one out of five severe weather threat level for Tallapoosa County, Elmore County and parts of Coosa County.
The northern part of Coosa County is a two out of five severe weather threat level. The threat is issued for 2 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday for Central Alabama.
These threats include damaging winds with gusts up to 60 mph and large hail.
"The level 3 risk you see to our north and west is not for a tornado threat, but rather is driven by the heightened risk for damaging, straight-line winds,” the National Weather Service Birmingham office states.
