The Tallapoosa County Board of Education had a special-call board meeting to approve two bids on infrastructure projects.
On Monday night, the board approved bids for the Dadeville Football Field Drainage Project and the Old Reeltown Elementary Demolition.
The drainage project is done through a grant from the lieutenant governor's office.
Director of facilities and maintenance Dwayne Johnson explained the project will involve putting in a new pipe to run down the football field sideline. Then three area drainages will be installed on the sideline. The project will include putting a pipe in on the far end of the football field and to tie in the pipe by the football field house to run it near the road.
The project is expected to take 120 days once Harmon Engineering begins the project.
The board approved the demolition of old Reeltown school. The section approved for demolition is the 1929 Reeltown Elementary School, also called the E building, and the adjacent wing facing Highway 120.
“I appreciate Mr. Johnson and his work on this,” superintendent Casey Davis said. “He has worked diligently for the last several months trying to make sure we had the right people at the right places.”
Board members Fred Ford and Deana Henderson Mann were absent for this meeting.
