Wicker Point, Alexander City
Coming off its freshly appointed distinction as the best golf course in the state in GOLF Magazine's Best in State Rankings this past January, Wicker Point has it all. 18 holes that show off all the wonderful features Russell Lands and Lake Martin have to offer, with the front nine taking a scenic route through the forest while the remaining holes take you along the lake itself. The course provides a challenge for both inexperienced and seasoned golfers. Equipped with a clubhouse that serves as a pro shop, both men’s and women’s locker rooms and as a place to dine — Wicker Point allows golfers the chance to take in everything the lake has to offer.
Lakewinds Golf Course, Jackson’s Gap
Located just five miles from downtown Alexander City, Lakewinds Golf Course has been a staple since it was purchased by the city in 1982. The course is tucked away in a small valley with a view of Lake Martin. It is a par 70 course with a length of 5,500 yards, featuring three water hazards. Lakewinds is also currently working on renovations to the course to provide its golfers with the best experience possible. It serves as the home for five gold tournaments yearly and offers a junior golf program over the summer.
Willow Point, Alexander City
Willow Point has been one of the top golfing destinations in Alexander City since its inception in 1964 and came back even better than ever in 2003 after renovations were made to the course. It is a 72-par course with 12 holes along the Lake Martin shoreline. All 18 holes provide a fantastic view of the lake. The course also offers a practice facility and a clubhouse. Willow Point serves as a country club and provides its members with other amenities such as cabanas, a fitness center, tennis courts and dining for families.
Emerald Mountain Golf Club, Wetumpka
Whether it be navigating through the trees in the front nine or the view of the Tallapoosa River in the back nine, the Emerald Mountain Golf Club is not short of breathtaking views. It is an 18-hole, par 72 layout with a length of 7,023 yards to provide a challenge to its golfers. The club offers lessons with a PGA professional, while also equipped with a driving range and clubhouse. The course is still looking to elevate its game over the course of the next couple of years but is still a great option for regular visits.
Stillwaters Golf Course, Dadeville
A 72 par, 18 hole course, with a length of 6,906 yards that goes directly into the hills of Alabama. The Stillwaters Golf Course has been a staple in the Dadeville community for decades and was recognized in Golf Digest’s best courses back in 1997. With over 200 feet in elevation, the course itself provides its golfers with a unique challenge while offering five ranges — ladies, seniors, executive, member and championship to cater to its golfers. Following a great day on the course, golfers can head over to Prime Steakhouse for a drink or a nice steak.
