The Tallassee branch of the First Community Bank of Central Alabama, located at 526 Gilmer Avenue, opened for business late last week.
The opening of the Tallassee branch completes the company’s goal of locating banks in every major Elmore County community. FCBCA also has two branches in Prattville in Autauga County.
The new facility was constructed along the same lines as most other branches of the bank, including the floor plan and exterior.
Branch manager Barry Parker, a native of Tallassee, said that the construction, landscaping, and other facets had gone smoothly.
“Everything fit into place well, and the weather cooperated, for the most part, so we were able to open just about on schedule,” Parker said. “There were some minor changes, such as relocating my office so I can see customers come in.”
Parker said that he and his associates had put in a lot of hours in recent weeks to get the new branch ready, and noted that there has been a positive “buzz” in the community about the new facility.
“I’ve run into old classmates, as well as a lot of people in Tallassee who have accounts at one of our other branches, and they’re excited that there’s a branch here,” he said. “Several local businesses also like the idea that they can now do their business banking in Tallassee instead of having to drive to Wetumpka.”
Last week’s opening was “soft” and unpublicized, as the branch sought to ease into the local financial market. Parker said that a grand opening would probably be held later in January.
