In the last couple of months, Tallapoosa County has seen three murders. These heinous acts cause great complications within the community; however, law enforcement officials around the county have worked tirelessly to find justice for every victim.
Just weeks after Quanisha Davis went missing, the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department alongside the Alexander City Police Department Detective Division not only found Davis’ body, but arrested her alleged assailant as well.
More recently, the murder of Stephen Huntley occurred Monday night in Alexander City. Tuesday, the person responsible for this murder was taken into custody. The ACPD also worked hand-in-hand with the United States Marshall’s Task Force to locate the person responsible for the shooting of Chavorian Williams, who was killed June 23 in Alex City. With their diligence and hard work, Williams’ alleged murderer was arrested and taken into custody in Michigan Tuesday evening.
Law enforcement from Alex City, Dadeville and all over Tallapoosa County have clearly shown they are willing to do whatever it takes to serve and protect. Recently, Tallapoosa County sheriff Jimmy Abbett was named the 2024 Community Relations Officer of the Year for his hard work, empathy and professionalism toward the community during the April 15, 2023, shooting. Dadeville police chief Jonathan Floyd worked alongside Abbett during the aftermath of the incident, and he said Abbett handled every aspect of the incident with care and compassion.
When heinous acts occur in this small community, our law enforcement goes above and beyond. While their ultimate goal is to serve and protect, they do so with the intention of creating the safest community possible.
The next time you see a member of law enforcement, be sure to thank them for all they do for the community.
