Tallassee SummerFest

Cliff Williams / TPI A favorite attraction at the Tallassee SummerFest this year was a hot air ballon. Riders floated into the sky to take a look over the Fitzpatrick Bridge and the Tallapoosa River.

The Tallassee SummerFest was visible for miles.

During the day a hot air balloon served as a beacon to the fun happening at Tallassee City Hall. Fireworks from the lake lit up the sky by night. There were pony rides, vendors and more.

“It has been a great turnout,” Tallassee Chamber of Commerce executive director Jerry Cunningham said. “This has turned out well.”

To combat the heat a large cooling station was in the middle of the vendors. The tent provided shade and misting fans cooled the temperature.

There was a watermelon eating contest for children, baking contest and pet costume contest.

Adults shopped and visited booths of several different organizations. Children got snow cones and played on inflatables including a water slide.
